Too cold and mushy to ride where you live? Then get your buddies together and go south to Costa Rica for one of the greatest single track adventures in the world.

Sixty year old Norm List (hardcore windsurfer and mountain biker) will be your host for 8 days while he guides you on his famous Volcano trail. Not a coast to coast but a lake to lake ride starting at Lake Arenal following Costa Rica's northern volcanic ridge past 8 volcanoes, some active and some dormant, all the way up to Lake Nicaragua. Having explored trails in Costa Rica for over 20 years, Norm says this is his OBRA MAESTRA with over 6 years of exploring private ranches and national parks to be able to put this ride together. The biggest challenge was to find adequate food and lodging while keeping the distance and time within certain limits. Fifty kilometers, five hours a day are the standard. All the lodging including  Norm's own Rock River Lodge, are rustic in style, off the beaten path, serving excellent food in large quantities.

Hot water pools, canopy tours, horseback rides and even 4-wheeling are some of the activities offered as options after the day's ride. Even though the conditions won’t allow a sag wagon, suit cases, tools, spares, etc. will be delivered to the new lodge each day. (Negotiations with the Nicaraguan government to allow the groups to be ferried to the Island of Solentiname in Lake Nicaragua are underway).

Groups are limited to a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 16 with 3 guides.

Over 50% of the ride is single track or (vaca traca) with difficult technical section that requires intermediate to upper level ridding skills.

(2) gloves, helmet, hydra pack, tubes, pump, lots of patches, power bars, sun glasses, suntan lotion, bathing suit, a light tool kit, small flash light, shoes, pedals, 5 days of clean riding clothes, long pants and a sweater for the evenings.
